Jigsaw Puzzles

A jigsaw is the one puzzle every market understands. It needs no instructions, it survives being done and undone a hundred times, and it sits at every price point from a pocket-money board to a boxed adult gift. This range covers the whole span: 12-piece first puzzles with chunky pieces, 24 and 48-piece cartoon boards, shaped and irregular cuts, and adult jigsaws up to 1,000 pieces.

The commercial case is simple. A jigsaw is cheap to cut, light to ship and easy to merchandise by age and by picture. Retailers buy them in depth because they sell in depth: a shop that stocks one jigsaw stocks twelve. The pieces that do the work are the 24 to 100 piece band, where the picture still reads at arm's length and a child can finish it alone.

For buyers building a range, start with three: a first board at 12 to 24 pieces, a mid-range 48-piece cartoon, and one shaped or irregular cut for gifting. Those three cover the age bands, the price points and the shelf space, and they are the SKUs that come back as repeat orders.
