Number & Counting Puzzles
Numbers you can pick up and put back in order.
Numbers are abstract until a child can move them. A number puzzle makes a digit a physical object: it comes out, it goes back, it can be lined up, stacked, counted and compared. That is why counting boards sit in every early-years classroom next to the alphabet boards.
This range covers lift-out number boards 1 to 10 and 1 to 20, counting and matching sets, fraction boards, and number-and-shape combination puzzles. Plywood construction, water-based paint, printed numerals in a rounded style that matches early-years handwriting. Pieces are sized to the age band and graded for small parts.
The buyer is the same as for alphabet puzzles, and the two ranges are usually sold together. A preschool takes both; a gift shop takes the boxed versions; a maths specialist takes the fraction and counting sets.
Numerals are printed in a rounded, single-storey style to match early-years handwriting schemes; the 1 has no serif base.
